Timetable

School timetable software for Kenyan schools

A timetable on a staffroom wall is out of date by the first change. Build it by subject and teacher and everyone reads the same week.

Enaton gives every class a timetable built by subject and teacher. The school sets it up once, teachers and staff see their own week in the system, and a change is made in one place.

What it does

Enaton gives every class a timetable built by subject and teacher. The school sets it up once, teachers and staff see their own week in the system, and a change is made in one place.

Build a class’s week

  • A timetable for each class, built by subject and by the teacher who teaches it
  • A week laid out by day and lesson for each class
  • The subjects and teachers already set up in your classes, not typed again

See the week from either side

  • A class view: the whole week for one class
  • A teacher view: every lesson that teacher has, across classes
  • Teachers and staff see their own timetable when they sign in
Show all 4
  • Principals and deputies see any class and any teacher

Change it in one place

  • Move a lesson or swap a teacher once, and every view shows it
  • No separate copy in the staffroom, the deputy’s office and a teacher’s book to keep in step
  • Next to the school calendar, which is built into Enaton, so lessons and term dates are read from the same system

Who it helps

How it works

  1. Set up the classes, subjects and teachers

  2. Build each class’s week by subject and teacher

  3. Teachers and staff open their own timetable in the system

  4. Make a change once and every view shows it

The timetable lives on a wall and in a few heads

In many schools the timetable is a sheet pinned in the staffroom, redrawn by hand whenever a teacher leaves or a subject moves. Teachers copy their own lessons into their own books, and a learner or a parent has to ask someone which lesson comes next.

When a change is made, it reaches some people and not others. The staffroom copy says one thing, a teacher’s notebook says another, and the class finds out when the wrong teacher walks in.

How Enaton handles it

Each class has a timetable built from its subjects and the teachers who teach them. The same timetable gives a class its week and a teacher their week, because both are read from one record.

Because the timetable sits beside classes, subjects and staff in the same system, a teacher who is added to a subject or moved to another class is changed once, not on four sheets.

Questions we get about this

Is the timetable built for each class?

Yes. Each class has its own timetable, built from its subjects and the teachers who teach them.

Can a teacher see their own timetable?

Yes. Teachers and staff see their own timetable in the system, covering the lessons they teach across classes.

What happens when a lesson or a teacher changes?

You change it in one place. The class view and the teacher view both read from the same record, so there is no second copy to correct.

1 more question
Is there a school calendar as well?

Yes. The school calendar is built into Enaton: term dates, events and closing day in one place, seen by staff and parents.
